Got Your NEBOSH IGC Results? Here's What Happens Next
You must pass both units individually. GIC1 is the open-book assignment and GIC2 is the workplace practical. NEBOSH awards the full IGC only when both units are passed. Passing one and failing the other means you hold a credit for the passed unit — not the full certificate.
NEBOSH International General certificate results are graded as Distinction, Credit, Pass, or Referral. A "Pass" is the minimum passing grade. Your Nebosh IGC result letter show your grade for each unit. Distinction requires 75%+ and Credit around 65% to 74% and Pass between 45% to 64%. Below 45% is considered as Refer which mean the learner failed to meet the passing grades of Nebosh IGC.
NEBOSH typically dispatches certificates within 20 working days after results are published. As a learning partner usually receives the certificate first and then we contact you to forward Nebosh International General certificate physical copy to you. No digital certificates are issued by Nebosh at the moment.
Yes. Your Nebosh International General Certificate results notification letter or the online results slip serves as an interim proof of achievement. Most employers accept this while you wait for the physical certificate. You can contact us to get a copy of your result notification issued by Nebosh.
You must notify us before your results are declared to do name correction without any administrative charges.
If you notify us after certificate is issued. We will raise a correction request with NEBOSH on your behalf. You will need to provide supporting identity documents (such as a passport or Aadhaar card) to confirm the correct spelling. A replacement certificate will be issued, sometimes with a small administrative fee.
"Refer" in NEBOSH language means you did not meet the pass standard for that unit — it is equivalent to a fail. However, if you passed one unit, and other unit is 'refer' then you must re-sit the referred unit again by paying the fees and take the exams to get pass and qualify for the certification. You only need to resit the referred unit, not both.
You are not required to retake the full Nebosh IGC course for a resit, but it is strongly recommended that you attend revision sessions or seek additional tutoring. POSHE offer short revision sessions prior to exam dates.
IG2 or GIC2 is a workplace-based observation and report. Common reasons for referral include: insufficient hazard identification, poor risk assessment methodology, weak control measures, or inadequate action planning. Review the NEBOSH IG2 examiner's feedback report will provide detailed information to identify your flaws and focus on these areas with your tutor.
There is no official limit on the number of resit attempts for NEBOSH International General Certificate. You can resit as many times as needed, but each attempt requires paying the examination fee again.
However you must complete any single unit failed before 5 years from the date of first attempt. If not, you must take all the unit again from the beginning by attending a regular class.
