NEBOSH Award in Health and Safety at Workplace

The NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work is a globally recognized qualification offered by an established independent UK examination board NEBOSH. The course is offered in association with Akbar HSE, Centre#754.
NEBOSH Health and Safety at work award is the first step towards other higher levels of NEBOSH qualification and provides a potent platform for breakthrough in to NEBOSH IGC.

Who can take NEBOSH HSW Course?

The NEBOSH Award in Health & Safety at Work qualification is aimed at anyone who needs to understand the principles of health and safety as part of their job to ensure health and safety at workplace.

The person who gets more benefited are the Team leaders and supervisors, HR professional, facilities manager, those working with young people in a training environment.

The standard of English required by candidates studying the NEBOSH Award in Health and Safety at Work must be such that they can both understand and articulate the concepts that the syllabus contains.

Course Content
HSW 1 - Workplace Safety Foundation (Theory)
  • 1. Foundations of health & Safety.
  • 2. Responsibility for health and safety.
  • 3. Health & Safety risk assessment and control.
  • 4. Hazards and control associated with work equipment.
  • 5. Transport safety.
  • 6. Hazards and controls associated with working electricity.
  • 7. Fire safety.
  • 8. Hazards and controls associated with manual handling and repetitive movement.
  • 9. Hazards and controls associated with hazardous substances.
  • 10. Hazards and controls associated with working environment.

HSW 2 - Workplace Risk Assessment Activity (Practical)

Course Duration :

3 days of classroom training + 1 day of examination.

Is this qualification recognized?

NEBOSH Health & Safety at Work has been accredited and credit rated by the Qualifications Authority (SQA) and sits in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

Certificates will be issued to delegates who completes both the units(HSW1 & HSW2) successfully.

How is it assessed?

The unit HSW 1 is assessed by 45 minutes multiple choice examination followed by two hours of risk assessment practical application.

The multiple choice assessment is currently available in English, Arabic, Mandarin and Russian.
