The Level 2 Award in control of Substances Hazardous to Health is targeted for workers, learners who work in an environment where their work is likely to contact with hazardous substances. This includes the environment in the workplace areas such as health care, manufacturing unit, cleaning, transport and utilities and office environment.
It provides the learners with knowledge and skill on how to recognize the risk associated with the hazardous substances and the ways to control them.
There is one mandatory unit in this qualification:
Unit 1: Principles of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
- Understand the law relating to hazardous substances in the workplace.
- Understand how risk assessments contribute to the safe use of hazardous substances in the workplace.
- Understand the precautions and procedures necessary to ensure the risks associated with hazardous substances are properly controlled.
To achieve these qualification learners must successfully complete the assessment for the Unit.

How is the qualification assessed?
This qualification is assessed through a 15 multiple-choice question examination. The duration of the examination is 30 minutes. Learners have to score at least 10 out of 15 to achieve this qualification
